What is "Rock Solid Youth Center"?

The Vision

Rock Solid Youth Center is:

·        A Christian faith-based social, recreational and educational center for kids and teens located on the East Side of Binghamton, New York

·        We are a Direct Affiliate of Youth for Christ USA  ~ www.yfc.net

·        A place where local Christians and people of like purpose help kids from various family backgrounds build positive attitudes, behaviors and relationships, finding God’s purposes for their lives.

·        A place where the Bible is used as a source of inspiration and education in developing Christian character in the next generation.

The Need

East Middle School, with about 600 students, is located four blocks from our location. Calvin Coolidge Elementary School, located three blocks away, has an enrollment of about 400. Many of these children are from families which can be helped with mentors from the greater Christian community.

Partnering with local church youth pastors, leaders, parents, teachers, community business people, civic and governmental leaders, RSYC will particularly reach young people who may have little or no opportunity to know about or experience God's love.

An extensive research study entitled, Beyond the Boundaries: Low-Income Residents, Faith-Based Organizations and Neighborhood Coalition Building, found that:

"the church has had limited impact on the lives of families living in the poorest neighborhoods, yet the physical presence of faith-based organizations...uniquely positions them as spiritual and social resources for families"

Partnering with Christians from several local congregations and other like-minded community people, organizations and agencies of similar goals, Rock Solid is uniquely positioned to effect lasting change in our youth, neighborhoods and our city.

The Location  - 197 Robinson Street, Binghamton
Known as the “The Junior High Pharmacy” for many years, the building is now owned by Grace Baptist Church and is rented by Rock Solid Youth Center.
